Some weddings leave a lasting impression not because they're extravagant, but because every detail has been thoughtfully considered. Steph and Ellie's celebration was one of those weddings. Every element felt intentional, layered and beautifully connected, creating an atmosphere that was equal parts modern, romantic and deeply personal.
From the moment guests arrived, it was clear this wasn't going to be a traditional wedding. The ceremony featured one of our favourite creations to date - an oversized sculptural backdrop crafted entirely from crushed paper. Inspired by the movement of cascading fabric, the installation transformed humble paper into something architectural and artistic, creating a striking focal point that perfectly framed Steph and Ellie's vows. It was a beautiful reminder that paper can be every bit as dramatic as florals or drapery when it's given the opportunity to shine.
Throughout the reception, handcrafted details continued to tell the story. Handmade paper was chosen for the place cards, menus and table numbers, with naturally deckled edges and organic textures bringing warmth and softness to the elegant tablescape. Delicate typography and subtle illustrations allowed the paper itself to become the hero, creating pieces that felt refined without ever feeling overdesigned.
One of our favourite details was the custom satin handkerchiefs, thoughtfully incorporated into each place setting. Resting alongside the handmade paper pieces, they introduced another layer of texture while offering guests something meaningful to take home. It's these unexpected keepsakes that often become treasured reminders of the day long after the celebrations have ended.
For the seating chart, we moved beyond the traditional. Instead of a printed board, guests discovered their tables on individually labelled wine bottles, each finished with custom-designed labels that blended seamlessly into the overall styling. Functional, interactive and beautifully understated, the installation invited guests to engage with the design while adding another unexpected moment to the experience.
The styling throughout the reception embraced an effortless elegance. Sculptural floral arrangements filled textured glass vessels while cascading roses, graceful calla lilies and soft neutral linens created a timeless palette. Candlelight, handmade paper, satin textiles and carefully curated styling worked together to create a space that felt intimate yet refined, allowing every handcrafted detail to quietly contribute to the overall atmosphere.
Steph and Ellie's wedding perfectly reflects why we love creating bespoke wedding stationery. It's never just about invitations or menus. It's about designing pieces that become part of the celebration itself - details that guests touch, interact with and remember. When every element has purpose, stationery becomes more than paper. It becomes part of the story.
